Hagar USA’s Clinical Consultant, Dr Zoe Wyatt, has published her final article from a broader body of doctoral research in the area of trauma and resilience. The paper, ‘‘It Touched My Heart’ – Trust and Attachment in the Aftermath of Trauma for Cambodian Orphans and Young People’ was published in the European Journal of Behavioural Science in June this year. It focuses on attachment and social connectedness in the recovery from trauma for 26 young Cambodian people- many whom are considered ‘orphans’ who have lived experiences of poverty, broken families, jails and institutions, residential and/or foster care. The findings of this study demonstrate the importance of healthy relational interactions and attachment in buffering the impact of childhood trauma.
